The NFLPN Education Foundation offers an IV Therapy and Gerontology Certification by exam program for LPNs possessing the knowledge and skills necessary to complete patient care tasks associated with these specialties.
Individuals seeking certification will need to complete the application and submit with payment, a copy of current LPN/LVN license, along with completed proctor and endorsement letters. Current members of NFLPN will receive a discounted certification rate. Sample letters are posted on our website at www.nflpn.org on the Certification Program page along with the application. At present, applicants must make arrangements for an individual at their facility to “proctor” the exam. The proctor is responsible for maintaining test materials and overseeing completion of the exam.
Once the application is processed, the applicant will be mailed the refresher CD for the course and text references to assist in preparing for the exam. The proctor will be mailed the test materials separately with further instructions on administering the exam. The applicant must make arrangements with the proctor directly regarding their testing appointment. The proctor will account for all materials and the completed exam and mail back to NFLPN Education Foundation for processing and the member will receive notification thereafter regarding exam status and certification.
Applicants who pass the exam will receive a certificate of completion valid for two years from the processing date, a score report, and a certification lapel pin from NFLPN with a congratulatory letter.
Plan to keep your certification valid by recertifying every two years. You must have completed 20 CEU credits directly related to the specialty within the two years prior to recertification. To recertify, complete the application and submit with payment, a copy of current LPN/LVN license, and copies of course completion certificates for at least 20 CEUs.
